Barnes & Noble and North Star Ballet partnering for Book Fair

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Barnes & Noble and North Star Ballet are partnering for a Book Fair starting April 8th and running till the 12th.
This will be the second time this year that the book store has partnered with the ballet company in fundraising efforts.
North Star Ballet puts on two shows a year -The Nutcracker, and their Spring Gala.
They also have school that runs from August until May.
At the book fair, shoppers will be given a ‘book fair ID number’ while they are browsing.
They then present the ID number when they check out, which will ensure a portion of the sale goes to the North Star Ballet.
Artistic Director for the North Star Ballet, Courtland Weaver, talked about how the funds help the productions.
Courtland Weaver; Artistic Director for North Star Ballet>>: “Well right now we are working on our Spring Gala production, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and there is no way that our ticket sales can ever cover that costs of the productions, so the funds can go to offsetting some of the costs of production. They can also go to material support for the dance company and the school. We have a pretty decent revenue stream from the schools, so generally speaking, donated revenue goes to more of our production end, things like performances and the music you hear in the background.”
