Mark Hamill Shares “Bittersweet” Carrie Fisher Remembrance Ahead of Final ‘Star Wars’ Appearance

“It’s bittersweet facing my final chapter without her-She is simply irreplaceable,” the actor tweeted Sunday.

Mark Hamill on Sunday took to Twitter to remember Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher ahead of his final performance as Luke Skywalker in the blockbuster space-opera film franchise.

“It’s bittersweet facing my final chapter without her-She is simply irreplaceable. I’m finding solace in the fact that she won’t BE replaced & would love the worldwide outpouring of affection from those who loved her when they heard the news. #CarrieOnForever,” Hamill tweeted alongside photos of himself and the late actress in character as Luke and Leia Skywalker over the years.

Fisher died Dec. 27, 2016, a year before the release of The Last Jedi, in which her character had a significant role. Both Hamill and Fisher had serious screen time in last year’s eighth entry in the long-running film series.

After Fisher’s death, Hamill remembered his co-star in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “She was a handful, but my life would have been so much drabber if she hadn’t been my friend.”

Earlier this week, Hamill announced on Twitter that he would reprise his role as Luke Skywalker one last time in the upcoming Episode IX, due out next year, alongside fellow star Billy Dee Williams and Fisher, as well.
