Last week, the Senate voted to pass a resolution of disapproval to overturn the FCC’s repeal of Net Neutrality. Our own U.S. Sen. Doug Jones was a supporter. Now, the resolution is moving to the House and it is going to need U.S. Rep. Martha Roby’s support.
Net Neutrality is what allows communication, arts, and commerce to be shared freely on the internet. Without its protection, the big businesses that provide internet access would be able to prioritize content based on what their customers were able to pay, or even block information entirely. This would be detrimental to the spread of news and ideas, especially for small businesses.
The resolution will help to keep Net Neutrality protections in place and it will need Roby’s support to pass in the House. We are counting on her.
